Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu spent Thursday in Puttaparthi, Sri Sathya Sai district, where he taught a 45-minute social-science lesson to Class 10 students at ZP High School in Kothacheruvu, reviewed their report cards and joined his son, Minister Nara Lokesh, for the school’s mid-day meal programme. Later, the Chief Minister addressed a district-level Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting, stressing teacher accountability and the state’s plans to strengthen school-level education committees. Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was also in Puttaparthi. After morning prayers at the Sathya Sai Baba temple, Chouhan met Naidu and state agriculture officials to discuss measures for the drought-prone district, citing erratic rainfall and frequent crop failures. He visited the Sri Sathya Sai Super Speciality Hospital, describing the facility—which offers all tests and procedures free of charge—as a “prasad” to the community on the occasion of Guru Purnima. The twin visits placed education and healthcare at the centre of the state government’s outreach in one of Andhra Pradesh’s most water-stressed regions, underscoring coordination between the state leadership and the Union agriculture ministry ahead of the coming kharif season.
