India’s Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary jointly inaugurated the Uttar Pradesh Agritech Innovation Hub and Agricultural Technology Innovation Centre at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture & Technology in Meerut on Tuesday. Pradhan said the facility reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of equipping farmers with advanced technologies, noting that last year’s union budget earmarked funds to integrate artificial intelligence and other digital tools into agricultural education and extension services. Chaudhary added that the university is working on a partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar to allow agriculture students to pursue interdisciplinary research, underscoring the government’s push to merge traditional farming expertise with next-generation science.
