State-run power producer NTPC Ltd added almost 409 MW of renewable capacity on 29 June, commissioning new segments at three utility-scale solar plants. The company declared commercial operation of a 142.2 MW block at its 300 MW Khavda Solar Energy Project and a 146.7 MW section of the 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project, both in Gujarat. Separately, subsidiary NTPC Green Energy Ltd brought the final 120 MW tranche of the 220 MW Unit II at the Shajapur Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh online, completing that unit and lifting total commissioned capacity at the site to 325 MW. The project is part of a planned 450 MW installation in the district. In a parallel development, lignite miner and power firm NLC India Ltd said it received a Letter of Award from NTPC on 27 June to build a 450 MW interstate wind-solar hybrid project. The facility will supply electricity to NTPC for 25 years, with 300 MW located in Bikaner, Rajasthan, and 150 MW in Bhuj, Gujarat.
