Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bengaluru on August 10, 2025, to inaugurate the Yellow Line of the Bangalore Metro and lay the foundation stone for the Bangalore Metro Phase-3 project, valued at over Rs 15,610 crore. The Phase-3 expansion will add more than 44 km of route length with 31 elevated stations, enhancing connectivity between residential, commercial, and industrial zones, as well as improving access to Kempegowda International Airport. The newly launched Yellow Line began operations with only three trains due to delayed Chinese deliveries, causing 25-minute wait times and overcrowding. During the 'Next-Gen Mobility for a Next-Gen City' programme, Modi highlighted Bengaluru's emergence as a symbol of India's rise in IT and emphasized the importance of technology in bridging gaps between government and citizens. He called for strengthening Bengaluru and Karnataka's role in 'Make in India' with a focus on 'Zero Defect, Zero Effect' standards and advancing 'Tech Aatmanirbhar Bharat.' Union ministers and Karnataka state leaders also participated in the event, praising the infrastructure improvements. Separately, the Indian Defence establishment highlighted the success of Operation Sindoor, a coordinated tri-service military operation along India's western borders. Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the operation as a demonstration of joint military synergy and India's capability to defeat its enemies with indigenous strength. The Indian Air Force conducted precision strikes during Operation Sindoor, notably destroying Pakistan's Chinese-made YLC-8E anti-stealth radar at Chunian Air Base, exposing vulnerabilities in Pakistan's air defense network. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi described the operation as a complex 'greyzone' conflict and warned of future wars requiring a whole-of-nation response involving scientists, citizens, and institutions. General Dwivedi also dismissed Pakistan's claims of victory following the operation, criticizing their narrative as symbolic spin.
