In Delhi's Lajpat Nagar-I area, a woman named Ruchika Sewani (42) and her 14-year-old son, Krish, were found murdered inside their locked home on July 2, 2025. Both victims had their throats slit with a sharp weapon. The crime came to light after Ruchika's husband, Kuldeep, reported bloodstains on the staircase and no response from his wife and son, prompting police intervention late Tuesday night. The primary suspect, the family's domestic help, was apprehended by police, reportedly after being arrested on a train in Uttar Pradesh. Initial investigations revealed that the domestic help was angered after being scolded by Ruchika for taking loans and being irregular at his job. The accused allegedly took Rs 45,000 from the family and killed the mother and son in retaliation. The son had returned from a cricket coaching session and tried to intervene during the attack. The Delhi Police are conducting further investigations into the case.
