India’s Kidambi Srikanth reached the semifinals of the BWF Super 300 Canada Open after defeating top seed and world No. 6 Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei 21-18, 21-9 in 43 minutes. The straight-games victory was Srikanth’s third consecutive win over the Taiwanese shuttler. Srikanth had earlier dispatched Wang Po-Wei 21-19, 21-14 to move into the round of 16 and will now face Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto for a place in Sunday’s final. In other Indian progress, Shankar Subramanian beat Huang Yu-kai to secure a quarterfinal berth, where he is also scheduled to meet Nishimoto.
