The Supreme Court collegium, led by Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai, conducted over 50 interviews for High Court judge candidates within two days, signaling a shift in the appointment process. Following these interviews, the collegium recommended the appointment of 39 individuals as judges across nine High Courts. The government subsequently notified the appointments of nine Chief Justices in a substantial reshuffle. Among these appointments, Sanjeev Sachdeva was sworn in as the 29th Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. His tenure is expected to strengthen the Indian judiciary by upholding constitutional values and fundamental rights. However, former Chief Justice Suresh Kumar Kait criticized the collegium, alleging dishonesty in its appointments and highlighting the underrepresentation of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes in the judiciary.
