Heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand triggered multiple landslides on 9–10 July, blocking sections of the Badrinath National Highway between Rudraprayag and the pilgrimage town of Badrinath, including a major slip near Nandprayag in Chamoli district. Police temporarily halted vehicles at safer locations as road-clearing crews worked through the night to remove debris, hampered at times by falling rocks. By about 05:00 local time on 10 July, authorities reopened the highway near Nandprayag, easing long queues of traffic, while restoration work continued on other affected stretches. Separate clearing operations are under way at Maldevta in Dehradun district after rain-induced slides there. No casualties have been reported so far, according to district officials.
