A freight train travelling from Jammu to Punjab derailed early Thursday between Kathua and Lakhanpur in Jammu & Kashmir, according to railway officials on site. Broadcasters citing railway authorities said the accident followed a landslide that struck the track. Emergency crews are carrying out relief and clearance work while technical teams attempt to restore traffic on the busy corridor, which links Jammu with Pathankot. Rail services on the route have been disrupted, and officials said normal operations will resume once debris is cleared and safety inspections are completed.
