Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami marked four years in office on 3 July, saying his government had created about 24,000 jobs and enacted a string of measures including a strict anti-cheating law, revised land regulations, and legislation aimed at curbing riots and religious conversions. He added that work was progressing on a Uniform Civil Code, one of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s flagship promises in the state. Dhami highlighted steps to boost tourism, noting that the Char Dham Yatra is “going very well” and that a winter pilgrimage circuit has been launched to extend the travel season. He pledged to place Uttarakhand among India’s best-performing states and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for continued federal support. Earlier, on 28 June, the chief minister inaugurated the All India Oil Sector Meet organised by the ONGC Officers Association in Dehradun. Calling oil and natural gas the “backbone” of the economy, he said India’s hydrocarbon industry had made notable progress in recent years through collaborations led by Oil and Natural Gas Corp. and other state-run companies.
