The Uttarakhand government has launched 'Operation Kalnemi' to identify and take action against imposters posing as saints who hurt religious faith by hiding their identities. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized the importance of this initiative during the holy month of Sawan, a period marked by several major religious yatras including the Kanwar Yatra, Char Dham Yatra, Adi Kailash Yatra, Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, and the Nanda Raj Jat Yatra, which is described as a 'Maha Kumbh'-like festival. Dhami highlighted that multiple meetings have been held to ensure smooth management and planning of these pilgrimages. Religious leaders such as Adhir Kaushik, President of Shri Akhand Parshuram Akhada, and Mahant Sarvan Das have welcomed the campaign, noting the necessity to check the identities of fake saints to preserve the sanctity of genuine religious figures and to prevent misconceptions in society. Separately, Dhami also participated in the State Level Bankers Committee meeting and the Common Service Centre (CSC) Diwas 2025 event in Dehradun.
