Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued a series of weather warnings from late June through mid-July 2025, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds across multiple regions. Jakarta and the Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek) have been repeatedly highlighted for potential heavy rain, with specific alerts issued for Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Bekasi, and surrounding areas. The warnings include risks of extreme weather conditions such as thunderstorms and flooding, particularly in coastal zones prone to tidal flooding (banjir rob), notably in East Java. BMKG also noted that the 2025 dry season (musim kemarau) is delayed and wetter than usual, with above-normal rainfall expected to continue until October 2025. This wetter pattern is attributed to atmospheric dynamics and phenomena such as the full moon phase and the Aphelion. Additionally, the agency warned of high waves up to six meters threatening Bali’s waters from July 8 to 11. Tropical Depression Crising and an enhanced southwest monsoon are expected to exacerbate rainfall, increasing the likelihood of floods and landslides in affected areas by mid-July. BMKG has urged vigilance across 17 provinces and 24 to 26 regions at various points, with some locations placed on alert status (siaga) due to the severity of expected weather events. The ongoing wet conditions and delayed dry season mark a departure from typical seasonal patterns, underscoring the need for preparedness in vulnerable communities.
