The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued a series of weather warnings and forecasts from late June through July 2025, highlighting potential heavy rainfall, strong winds, and extreme weather conditions across various regions. Starting June 22, BMKG warned of heavy rain in Jakarta and surrounding areas, with alerts extending through late June and early July for multiple provinces including Jabodetabek, Bogor, NTB, and Jawa Timur. The agency predicted rainfall intensities ranging from 50-100 mm per day up to 100-150 mm per day in some areas. Specific warnings included the possibility of flooding, landslides, and tidal flooding (banjir rob), particularly in coastal regions of East Java from July 10 to 13, linked to the full moon phase. BMKG also forecasted a delayed onset of the dry season (kemarau) in several regions, with the wet season expected to persist until October 2025, resulting in above-normal rainfall across much of Indonesia. The agency cautioned about high waves up to six meters threatening Bali’s waters from July 8 to 11. Jakarta was forecasted to experience frequent rain and thunderstorms, especially on July 4 and continuing through mid-July. BMKG emphasized the ongoing risk of extreme weather events, including heavy rain and strong winds, affecting up to 24 provinces at times, and urged residents and authorities to remain vigilant. The agency also noted atmospheric conditions such as equatorial wave activity contributing to the prolonged wet weather. On July 21, BMKG warned of extreme weather impacting seven regions, while Jakarta was expected to have mostly cloudy weather with rain limited to the Kepulauan Seribu islands. These forecasts reflect an active and extended rainy season with potential hazards for multiple Indonesian provinces.
