Druze Protesters Block Northern Israel Roads Over Violence in Syria

Members of Israel’s Druze minority blocked several roads in northern Israel on Tuesday, setting fire to trash and tires as they demanded stronger Israeli intervention to protect Druze communities across the border in Syria. The demonstrators said the Israeli government must respond to escalating clashes in Syria’s Suwayda Governorate, where Druze residents have reportedly come under attack amid fighting involving Bedouin groups and forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad. The protests, described by local media as the largest Druze unrest in years, caused traffic disruptions in Druze-majority towns and on key regional highways. Organizers warned that the unrest could intensify if authorities do not take concrete steps to assist their Syrian counterparts or increase diplomatic pressure on Damascus to halt the violence.
