A 15-year-old girl named Gaia died after being crushed by a large boulder while attempting to take a selfie with two friends on a rocky slope near the Piave River in Cesiomaggiore, Belluno province, Italy. The incident occurred when the rock face gave way, causing the boulder to fall and fatally injure Gaia on the spot. One of her friends was also injured in the accident. Gaia was described as a rhythmic gymnastics enthusiast. The three teenagers had climbed the rocky outcrop to take photos when the rock collapsed. The accident has drawn attention to the dangers of climbing unstable rock formations for photographs.
