The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has reduced the capacity of Nairobi's Moi International Sports Centre (MISC) Kasarani Stadium to 27,000 spectators for Kenya's remaining matches in Group A of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN). This decision follows repeated security breaches during the Harambee Stars' games, notably during the match against Morocco. CAF has condemned these security lapses and imposed a fine of $50,000 (approximately KES 6.5 million) on the Football Kenya Federation (FKF). The football governing body has demanded tangible actions to improve stadium security and warned that further failures could result in Kenya's home matches being relocated outside the country. In response, the Kenyan government has pledged to increase police presence for upcoming matches, including the Sunday fixture against Zambia. Additionally, fan zones will be established in Nairobi to manage crowd control and enhance safety during the tournament.
