Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Minister Musalia Mudavadi told foreign diplomats and investors that the East African nation remains anchored in strong institutions and a progressive 2010 constitution. Speaking at the French Embassy in Nairobi during Bastille Day celebrations on 15 July, he said the government is "firmly committed to upholding constitutional doctrines and the rule of law" to provide a predictable environment for capital and collaboration. Mudavadi acknowledged that nationwide demonstrations on 25 June and 7 July had tested the country’s governance framework but argued they ultimately strengthened Nairobi’s resolve to protect peaceful assembly while preventing violence. He cited the ongoing reconstitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission as evidence of continued democratic reforms. The minister used the forum to highlight expanding ties with France, noting that French agencies have financed more than 150 Kenyan projects worth €1.8 billion since 2015, including a planned Science and Engineering Complex at the University of Nairobi. He confirmed that Kenya and France will co-host the Africa-France Summit in Nairobi in 2026 and said the recently signed Kenya-EU Economic Partnership Agreement should further deepen trade links.
