Kennedy Kalombotole, the prime suspect in the murders of two patients at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), is experiencing deteriorating health as Mbagathi Hospital has declined to admit him, insisting he be transferred to Mathari Hospital. Kalombotole is currently remanded at Nairobi Industrial Area Remand Prison and has been ordered by the court to undergo a mental assessment. The investigation into the KNH ward murders has revealed new details about the death of Gilbert Kinyua, with testimonies from staff and family members provided to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has been criticized for allegedly ignoring earlier DCI recommendations. Separately, a crackdown on members of the so-called 'Fighting Brutality and Impunity' (FBI) movement has resulted in the arrest of former police officer Hiram Kimathi at his home in Meru County. Kimathi, who publicly opposed the government's 'shoot to kill' order, is the third suspect detained in connection with the FBI group, which also includes former Kenya Defence Forces soldier Patrick Osoi. Both Osoi and another member, Kihara, are set to remain in custody for seven days.
