Saudi broadcasters Al-Hadath and Al Arabiya report that Hezbollah has suffered roughly 4,000 combat deaths during its recent war with Israel, including several senior military and political figures. The outlets add that about 2,000 members abandoned the group following the reported assassination of its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, leaving Hezbollah’s active strength at an estimated 60,000 fighters. The same reports say Lebanon’s national army now controls about 80% of the territory south of the Litani River, an area long dominated by Hezbollah. The shift marks the most extensive deployment of the Lebanese Armed Forces in the region since the end of the 2006 conflict. Separately, open-source analysts and Israeli media outlets state that an Israeli airstrike last week destroyed a Hezbollah weapons warehouse containing more than 3,000 rockets. The loss further reduces the group’s arsenal after months of clashes that began when Hezbollah joined the Israel-Hamas war on behalf of Gaza-based militants.
