A major potable water pipe rupture occurred on Rafael Ramírez Street in the Ampliación Gabriel Hernández neighborhood of the Gustavo A. Madero borough in Mexico City on July 15, 2025. The break involved a 20-inch diameter pipe, causing flooding across three blocks and impacting multiple businesses. The leak was severe enough to lift pavement on Eva Sámano Street, prompting residents to rescue their belongings amid the water wastage. Segiagua personnel are actively working to address the situation. Additionally, heavy rains on the same day led to further flooding and waterlogging in various parts of Mexico City, including the Calzada Ignacio Zaragoza and the intersection of Eje 6 Sur and Avenida De las Torres in Ermita Iztapalapa, where authorities were seen clearing storm drains. Local official Janecarlo Lozano has been attending to affected homes in the area.
