On July 3, 2025, a fatal vehicular accident occurred on Avenida Luis Cabrera in the San Jerónimo Lídice neighborhood of Magdalena Contreras, Mexico City, resulting in the deaths of three individuals—two men and one woman aged between 25 and 30. The accident involved a compact vehicle that crashed into a wall and overturned, leaving the victims trapped inside. Concurrently, members of the Coordinadora Nacional de Trabajadores de la Educación (CNTE), led by Pedro Hernández, conducted a series of protests and took over federal educational offices in Mexico City, including the Autoridad Educativa Federal (AEF) and the Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP). The CNTE demanded the reinstatement of salary deductions made for absences during a national strike. After approximately five hours of peaceful occupation, the CNTE agreed to release the SEP building following an offer from authorities to return 10 million pesos in withheld wages and to hold a meeting with Education Secretary Mario Delgado. Despite this, a scheduled tripartite dialogue was canceled by educational authorities on July 10 without justification, with a rescheduled meeting proposed for July 12 at 11:00 a.m. with only officials from the Autoridad Educativa Federal de la Ciudad de México. Additionally, on July 8 and 9, health workers from the Fuerza Independiente de Trabajadores de la Salud (FINTRAS) staged protests and blockades on Paseo de la Reforma and other locations in Mexico City, demanding labor rights and increased budgets. Police intervened, encapsulating and reportedly using force against some protesters. An agreement was later reached between IMSS-Bienestar and FINTRAS. Other incidents reported include a construction collapse at the intersection of Calle Cuatro and Periférico in Álvaro Obregón, and the emergence of two sinkholes caused by a deep drainage rupture in the Circuito Interior in Iztacalco. In Miguel Hidalgo, over 150 homes face collapse risk due to subsidence in several neighborhoods. Traffic disruptions and complaints about road conditions, including a large pothole near Luis Cabrera, have also been noted.
