Mexican footballer Javier “Chicharito” Hernández provoked a backlash on 17 July after he posted an Instagram reel questioning feminist views on domestic work. In the short video, recorded inside a car, the Chivas striker asked: “¿Quieres a un hombre proveedor, pero para ti limpiar es opresión patriarcal? Interesante.” The clip, one of two published that day, had drawn roughly 70,000 reactions by the afternoon, most of them critical. Sports commentator David Faitelson, a prominent voice on Televisa’s TUDN network, dismissed the remarks as “estúpido,” adding that Hernández’s recent online “coaching” content was damaging his public image. Users across social platforms compared the 36-year-old forward to the controversial men’s-rights influencer known as “El Temach” and urged him to concentrate on his on-field performance for Club Deportivo Guadalajara. Hernández has not responded publicly to the criticism. While the comments do not violate league regulations, the episode adds to a series of off-pitch controversies that have overshadowed the former Manchester United and Real Madrid player’s return to Liga MX.
