Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said her administration has no evidence that the Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) conducted surveillance on U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents during the September 2024 federal trial of Rubén Oseguera González, alias “El Menchito.” Sheinbaum’s remarks came after DEA special agent Matthew Allen told the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee that cartel operatives monitored agents involved in the case. “We do not have any information on that matter,” the president told reporters, adding that Mexican authorities had reviewed available intelligence and found no indication of CJNG espionage. The president stressed that organized crime operates on both sides of the border and said Mexico continues to share intelligence with U.S. counterparts while respecting each nation’s jurisdiction. She reiterated that her government is committed to curbing drug-related violence and preventing fentanyl trafficking through coordinated, but sovereign, law-enforcement efforts.
