The Mainland Chinese embassy in Israel on Tuesday rejected a media report saying Beijing had supplied missile production equipment or air defense systems to Iran, calling the allegations “incorrect,” Israel Hayom reported. https://t.co/Vrfls7AhwH
China’s embassy in Israel on 9 July categorically rejected a report alleging that Beijing had transferred missile-production equipment or advanced air-defence systems to Iran after the recent cease-fire between Tehran and Jerusalem. In a written response to the Israeli daily Israel Hayom, the embassy called the claims, first published by the London-based outlet Middle East Eye, “incorrect.” The embassy said China “never exports weapons to countries engaged in war” and is “firmly opposed to the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.” It added that Beijing applies strict controls to dual-use goods that could have military applications. Middle East Eye had quoted unidentified regional officials as saying that deliveries were made shortly after the cease-fire, drawing concern from neighbouring states and the White House. The Chinese denial comes as Iran’s military procurement activities face heightened scrutiny following months of hostilities with Israel.
