Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has reported a tenfold increase in mortality rates among children under five years old in the Gaza Strip since the outbreak of the conflict on October 7, 2023. The organization’s survey of its staff and families revealed that infant mortality for babies less than one month old has risen sixfold compared to pre-war estimates. Additionally, the overall mortality rate among all those surveyed increased fivefold. MSF’s deputy manager of the emergency department, Amande Bazerolle, criticized Israel’s approach in the conflict, stating that there is a disregard for children's lives and describing the situation as a decimation of Gaza’s children.
