Gaza’s Hamas-run Health Ministry said Tuesday that the bodies of 93 Palestinians killed by Israeli airstrikes had reached hospitals in the previous 24 hours, while another 278 people were wounded. The ministry’s daily bulletin underscored the pace of Israel’s nine-month-old offensive, which shows no sign of easing. Medical officials at Gaza City’s Shifa Hospital said the overnight bombardment included a strike on the Tel al-Hawa district that killed 19 members of the same family. In a separate attack on the Shati refugee camp, a missile killed Mohammed Faraj al-Ghoul, a 68-year-old Hamas member of the Palestinian Legislative Council, along with a man, a woman and their six children. Several tents housing displaced people were also hit, according to civil-defence teams. The latest fatalities raise the ministry’s tally of deaths since 7 October 2023 to roughly 58,500, with about 139,000 people injured. More than half of those killed are women and children, the ministry says; United Nations analysts view its hospital-based figures as the most comprehensive currently available. Israel launched its air-and-ground campaign after Hamas militants killed about 1,200 people and seized 251 hostages in southern Israel. The Israel Defense Forces say they target militants and blame civilian casualties on Hamas’s use of dense urban areas, but had no immediate comment on Tuesday’s strikes. Aid agencies warn that continued bombardment and access restrictions are pushing Gaza’s 2.3 million residents toward famine.
