Israeli settlers mounted a large-scale overnight raid on the West Bank village of Burqa, east of Ramallah, between late 14 July and the early hours of 15 July. Videos and local media reports show lines of burning cars and plumes of smoke after settlers set fire to dozens of Palestinian-owned vehicles at a salvage yard and tried to torch at least two homes. Residents said several houses were damaged before the attackers withdrew; no serious injuries were immediately reported. The Burqa incident came amid a series of settler attacks across the occupied territory. In a separate episode, a CNN news crew covering violence near Ramallah said its vehicle’s rear window was smashed by settlers, though the journalists escaped unharmed. Other assaults were reported south of Hebron and near Jericho, underscoring the breadth of the latest flare-up. The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights on 15 July warned of an "intensification" of attacks by settlers and Israeli security forces in the West Bank in recent weeks, noting a rise in demolitions, forced displacement and the use of live ammunition against Palestinians. The agency called on Israel to curb settler violence and respect its obligations under international law.
