Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Hamas is confiscating humanitarian aid intended for civilians in the Gaza Strip, claiming the militant group is blocking distribution of ‘thousands of tons of food’ that Israel has permitted to enter the enclave. In a press briefing on Sunday, Netanyahu alleged that Hamas is using the shortages it created to fuel a global disinformation campaign, including circulating what he described as fabricated images of conditions in Gaza. He added that although hunger exists in the territory, he blamed the situation on Hamas’s actions rather than Israeli restrictions. Netanyahu said the aim of his remarks was to counter what he called a worldwide spread of falsehoods about Israel’s conduct in Gaza. Hamas has not yet responded to the accusations.
