Rays Belt Three Early Homers, Jump Ahead 6–0 on Orioles

The Tampa Bay Rays erupted for three home runs in the second inning Friday night at Camden Yards, seizing a 6–0 advantage over the Baltimore Orioles in the early stages of their series opener. Second baseman Jonathan Aranda began the barrage with a 433-foot drive to straightaway center. Outfielder Josh Lowe followed by sending a ball onto Eutaw Street, and Brandon Lowe capped the inning with a three-run shot. Aranda entered the game slugging .522 on low pitches—59 total bases in 113 at-bats—ninth-best in the majors this season. The game was still in progress after the power-filled frame.
