The Kansas City Royals have reacquired veteran utility infielder Adam Frazier from the Pittsburgh Pirates, sending 28-year-old Triple-A shortstop Cam Devanney in return. Frazier, 33, is earning $607,000 this season and will be eligible for unrestricted free agency after 2026. Frazier is hitting .255 with a .318 on-base percentage, three home runs, 21 RBIs and seven stolen bases over 78 games in 2025. A 2021 All-Star, he spent last season with Kansas City before departing in free agency and is valued by the club for his versatility and contact-oriented bat. Devanney, who has yet to reach the majors, has slugged 18 homers with 55 RBIs and a .931 OPS in 69 games for Triple-A this year. The deal gives Pittsburgh extended cost-controlled depth as it pivots toward a longer-term rebuild, while Kansas City adds a familiar veteran as it sits 4.5 games behind the final American League wild-card berth ahead of the July 31 trade deadline.
