Independent studio A24 has released the first trailer for “Marty Supreme,” Josh Safdie’s period sports drama starring Timothée Chalamet as a 1950s table-tennis prodigy loosely modeled on U.S. champion Marty Reisman. The two-minute preview, posted on 13 August, introduces Chalamet’s Marty Mauser pursuing ping-pong stardom in an era when the sport struggled for mainstream recognition in the United States. The ensemble cast includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, investor-turned-television personality Kevin O’Leary, musician Tyler Okonma (Tyler, the Creator), filmmaker Abel Ferrara and actor-union leader Fran Drescher. Safdie co-wrote the screenplay with longtime collaborator Ronald Bronstein, marking his first solo directorial effort since “The Pleasure of Being Robbed” in 2008. “Marty Supreme” is scheduled to open exclusively in North American theaters on 25 December 2025, positioning the film for the year-end awards corridor.
