IllFonic and Gun Media, the team behind 2017’s cult hit "Friday the 13th: The Game," have unveiled "Halloween: The Game," a new adaptation of John Carpenter’s 1978 slasher classic. The title, shown during the Future Games Show at Gamescom, is scheduled to launch in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Built on Unreal Engine 5, the project will allow players either to stalk the suburban streets of Haddonfield as Michael Myers or defend the town’s residents in 1-versus-4 asymmetrical multiplayer matches. In a first for IllFonic’s horror adaptations, the game also features a standalone single-player story mode and an offline bots option. The developers say multiple maps, “authentic locations” from the original film and a soundtrack inspired by Carpenter’s score are in development. Carpenter is listed as an executive producer alongside rights holders Compass International Pictures and Further Front.
