20th Century Studios has released the first full trailer for “Predator: Badlands,” the next installment in the long-running sci-fi franchise. The footage, unveiled on 21 July, arrives more than three months before the film’s exclusive theatrical and IMAX debut on 7 November 2025. Directed and co-written by “Prey” filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg, the picture casts Elle Fanning as Thia, a Weyland-Yutani android, and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi as Dek, a young Predator (Yautja) exiled from his clan. Set on the hostile planet Kalisk, the pair form an unlikely alliance in search of what the trailer describes as “the ultimate adversary.” Action sequences feature mech combat and several nods to the Alien universe, fuelling speculation that the two Disney-owned franchises are edging closer to an on-screen crossover. “Predator: Badlands” is the seventh live-action entry—and ninth overall—in the series, which was revived by Trachtenberg’s 2022 streaming hit “Prey” and this year’s animated anthology “Predator: Killer of Killers.” French outlet Journal du Geek pegs the production’s budget at roughly $100 million, well below recent tent-pole norms, aligning with Disney’s strategy of mid-priced genre revivals under the 20th Century banner.
