Universal Studios said it will introduce a Terrifier-themed haunted house at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights, bringing the slasher franchise’s villain Art the Clown to both of its U.S. theme parks. The maze, developed with franchise creator Damien Leone and producer Phil Falcone, opens at Universal Orlando Resort on Aug. 29 and at Universal Studios Hollywood on Sept. 4, running through Nov. 2. Titled “Welcome to the Funhouse,” the attraction recreates set pieces from 2022’s Terrifier 2, including the Clown Café, a claustrophobic bathroom and a deadly Christmas tableau. Guests will encounter characters such as Vicky and the Little Pale Girl while navigating scenes depicting the franchise’s signature gore. The independent Terrifier films have grossed about $100 million worldwide on a combined production budget below $2.5 million, with 2024’s Terrifier 3 becoming the highest-earning unrated release ever. The new house joins previously announced properties based on Friday the 13th, Amazon’s Fallout and Five Nights at Freddy’s as Universal expands the intellectual-property lineup for its 48-night Halloween event.
