Disney and 20th Century Studios released the first trailer for “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” the third chapter in James Cameron’s science-fiction franchise. After debuting exclusively in cinemas over the weekend alongside Marvel’s “Fantastic Four: First Steps,” the two-and-a-half-minute trailer went online on 28 July. The studio confirmed that the film will open worldwide on 19 December 2025. The footage introduces the Ash People, a fire-wielding Na’vi clan led by the new antagonist Varang, portrayed by Oona Chaplin, intensifying Pandora’s internal conflicts while human forces remain a threat. Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña return as Jake Sully and Neytiri, with Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang and Kate Winslet also reprising their roles. Ticketing site Fandango lists the running time at about three hours and 12 minutes. Cameron described the sequel as “an insane adventure and a feast for the eyes” with higher emotional stakes than its predecessors. “Fire and Ash” follows 2022’s $2.3 billion-grossing “Avatar: The Way of Water” and is part of the director’s planned five-film narrative, with additional installments already in production.
