Denver’s Underground Music Showcase, Colorado’s largest independent music festival, will fold after its 25th edition this summer, organizers announced on 1 July. The event, which began as a modest neighborhood gathering and grew into a regional draw for emerging artists, is slated to run for the last time on 25–27 July along South Broadway in the city’s Baker district. The 2025 lineup features headliners All the Witches, Flyana Boss, DeVotchKa and Fidlar among more than 200 local and national acts performing on four outdoor stages and in 12 indoor venues. Organizers said the festival is ending “in its current form,” hinting that its mission could resurface in a different format. Rising expenses—particularly for security, public safety, artist fees and weather insurance linked to more frequent severe storms—made the current model unsustainable, they said. The decision underscores broader financial pressures that have forced several U.S. music festivals to shut down in recent years.
