Fire crews in Weber County are working to contain a wildfire that ignited around 12:30 a.m. Sunday near the 9th Street Trailhead at the mouth of Ogden Canyon, Ogden, Utah. The Ogden Canyon Fire has burned roughly 10 acres and was 35 percent contained as of late Sunday morning, according to Utah Fire Info. Authorities said twenty residents were ordered to evacuate after shifting winds and steep terrain pushed flames toward nearby neighborhoods. One unoccupied home sustained major damage and about 40 additional houses were threatened before firefighters halted the fire’s advance. Weber County Fire District officials said crews established a structure-protection division to shield homes and are reinforcing containment lines against gusts approaching 20 miles per hour. No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
