Forward Guerschon Yabusele said he accepted a two-year, $12 million contract with the New York Knicks after receiving what he described as a «really, really low» offer from the Philadelphia 76ers, his team last season. The deal, completed with the Knicks’ taxpayer mid-level exception, includes a player option for the second season, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. In an interview with streaming outlet Skweek TV, the 29-year-old Frenchman said he felt the Sixers’ proposal signaled the club did not seriously want to retain him. Philadelphia was said to be focused first on assessing restricted-free-agent guard Quentin Grimes and subsequently signed power forward Trendon Watford to a two-year, $5.3 million minimum-salary contract. Yabusele averaged career highs of 11.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 70 games for the Sixers last season, shooting 38 % from three-point range. Drafted 16th overall by Boston in 2016, he returned to the NBA two seasons ago after stints in China and Europe.
