The San Francisco 49ers have agreed to a one-year contract with wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, according to multiple reports including NFL Network. The 30-year-old deep threat was cut by the Seattle Seahawks a day earlier after being overtaken by rookie Tory Horton. Valdes-Scantling, a two-time Super Bowl champion with Kansas City, split last season between Buffalo and New Orleans, finishing with 19 catches for 411 yards and four touchdowns. He owns 205 career receptions for 3,566 yards and 20 scores and is expected to bolster a San Francisco receiving corps missing several injured players, including Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings. Separately, the New England Patriots have released veteran wideout Kendrick Bourne at his request, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported. NBC Sports Bay Area said San Francisco has “high interest” in reuniting with the 30-year-old, who began his career with the 49ers from 2017 to 2020. Bourne has logged 292 receptions, 3,714 yards and 22 touchdowns over eight NFL seasons. No agreement is in place, but a pursuit would follow San Francisco’s recent moves to replenish depth after injuries and suspensions thinned the position group.
