Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley added to an already decorated year by winning two headline awards at ESPN’s 2025 ESPYs on Wednesday, taking home Best NFL Player and Best Play for his reverse hurdle against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Eagles, coming off their Super Bowl LIX triumph, were also voted Best Team. The ESPY sweep follows Barkley’s commercial success. In June the NFL Players Association reported that he led all players in officially licensed merchandise sales for the year ended Feb. 28, becoming the first running back since 2017—and the first non-quarterback since 2016-17—to top the list. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes ranked second and Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts third. Barkley’s popularity mirrors his on-field output: he rushed for a record 2,005 yards and 13 touchdowns last season and logged 97 yards in Philadelphia’s 40–22 win over Kansas City in the Super Bowl. The 27-year-old secured his future with the club on a two-year, $41.2 million extension earlier in the offseason, cementing his role at the centre of the defending champions’ plans.
