Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes says his focus for the 2025 NFL season is to "just play football" and restore the fun that he felt was missing during last year’s campaign, which ended in a 40-22 Super Bowl LIX loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Speaking on FanDuel TV’s “Up & Adams” show on 7 July, the three-time Super Bowl winner dismissed talk of a revenge tour, stressing that results will follow if the team enjoys the game again. Mahomes added that he has spoken "a good amount" this offseason with seven-time champion Tom Brady, now a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders and a Fox analyst. The 29-year-old said he is eager to absorb any advice Brady offers—chiefly the importance of authenticity and daily preparation—as he enters his ninth NFL season. On the Chiefs’ roster, Mahomes highlighted what he called the club’s deepest group of pass catchers yet, citing the returns of Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown, a late-season surge from Xavier Worthy, and the continued presence of tight end Travis Kelce. "We have so many weapons," he said. "It’s not going to be just one person. We just have to maximize them." The quarterback also praised division rival Maxx Crosby, calling the Las Vegas Raiders defensive end "the best pass rusher I’ve played against." Mahomes said facing talent of that caliber reinforces the need for Kansas City to refine its offense as it attempts to reclaim the NFL title in February.
