Two 15-year-olds have been charged with unarmed carjacking after an attack that left Edward "Big Balls" Coristine, a 19-year-old software engineer and former standout at the Department of Government Efficiency, bloodied in Washington, D.C. A Metropolitan Police report says officers patrolling near Logan Circle around 3 a.m. Sunday saw roughly ten youths surrounding Coristine’s vehicle on Swann Street and striking him. The teens scattered when police arrived; the two suspects were detained and the investigation is continuing. According to the report, the group demanded Coristine’s car while he and a woman—identified as his girlfriend—stood beside it. Coristine pushed her into the vehicle for safety and confronted the assailants, who beat him until officers intervened. An iPhone 16 was also stolen. Emergency responders treated Coristine at the scene for a concussion and other injuries. He previously interned at Neuralink, gained prominence under DOGE for federal cost-cutting projects and now works on website upgrades at the Social Security Administration. The assault quickly drew national attention. Elon Musk, who once oversaw DOGE, praised Coristine’s "bravery" on X and said the episode showed it was time to "federalize DC." President Donald Trump posted a graphic photo of the injured staffer on Truth Social, calling local crime "out of control" and urging that offenders as young as 14 be prosecuted as adults. City officials have not commented on those proposals, but police say additional arrests remain possible as they review surveillance video.
