U.S. hammer thrower Rudy Winkler reset his own national standard with an 83.16-metre effort at the 50th Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon, on 5 July. The mark eclipses the 82.71 metres he established at the 2021 Olympic Trials. Winkler’s third-round throw not only secured victory at the Diamond League meeting but also stands as the 2025 world lead, a meet record and a Diamond League record. The performance ended Olympic champion Ethan Katzberg’s unbeaten run this season.
