The African Union (AU) has rejected the formation of a so-called "parallel government" in Sudan, urging its member states and the international community not to recognize it. The AU's Peace and Security Council condemned all forms of external interference that are exacerbating the conflict in Sudan and called for the unity of the country. Meanwhile, Sudan's Prime Minister, Kamel Idris, has called on the African Union to lift the suspension of Sudan's membership, asserting that Sudan has met the requirements for reinstatement through the formation of an independent civilian government. Idris emphasized that this reinstatement is a legitimate right for Sudan and should be acknowledged impartially. The dispute highlights the ongoing power struggle between the government led by Kamel Idris and the faction behind the "government of foundation," with differing views on who legitimately governs Sudan.
