Portugal is currently battling multiple severe wildfires amid intense summer heat, with more than 3,700 firefighters and 1,200 ground vehicles deployed to combat 17 serious forest fires. Additionally, 37 aerial firefighting units are involved in the efforts. Authorities have detained a suspect believed to be responsible for starting five of the fires. As of the latest reports, approximately 2,700 firefighters remain actively engaged in firefighting operations across the country. Neighboring Spain is also mobilizing thousands of firefighters to address similar wildfire challenges.
