NASCAR opened its race weekend at Sonoma Raceway on Saturday with Cup Series practice and the first rounds of group qualifying for Sunday’s event. Ty Gibbs posted the second-quickest practice lap, while Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Christopher Bell, Chase Briscoe and Denny Hamlin ranked sixth, 14th and 24th respectively. Additional group qualifying sessions continued through the afternoon to set the starting lineup. The race will be broadcast Sunday, with television coverage on truTV and radio on the Performance Racing Network.
