Russia has begun moving a convoy of more than 20 trucks carrying military personnel from the occupied Zaporizhzhia front toward the northeastern Sumy region of Ukraine, according to Petro Andriushchenko, a former adviser to the mayor of Mariupol and head of the Center for the Study of Occupations. The column, which includes vehicles belonging to Rosgvardiya as well as Gazelle buses, was observed transiting through Mariupol en route to Taganrog before heading north. Andriushchenko said the reinforcements comprise a mixed contingent that includes units from Russia’s Caucasus republics. While Kyiv has not confirmed the deployment, the movement suggests Moscow is strengthening forces near Sumy, a region that borders Russia and has faced recurrent cross-border attacks since the full-scale invasion began in 2022.
