Ukrainian drones struck the southern Russian city of Voronezh in the early hours of Tuesday, wounding 16 people, regional governor Alexander Gusev said. A teenager is among the injured, and two adults remain in serious condition. Thirteen of the victims have been hospitalised with shrapnel and glass wounds after an unmanned aerial vehicle hit an apartment building, shattering windows and damaging nearby storefronts. Russia’s Defence Ministry reported that air-defence units destroyed 12 drones over the Voronezh region and a total of 55 across several regions overnight, including Belgorod and Lipetsk. Authorities in Lipetsk said one person was hurt when debris from a downed drone fell to the ground. The attack is among the largest on Voronezh since the Kremlin launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, underscoring Kyiv’s growing reliance on long-range unmanned systems to target Russian territory. While the city lies about 180 kilometres from the Ukrainian border, it has been hit less frequently than front-line regions such as Kursk and Belgorod.
