Brentford FC has reached agreement to sign former Liverpool and England midfielder Jordan Henderson on a free transfer. The 35-year-old, who recently left Ajax by mutual consent, has accepted a two-year deal that would keep him in west London until 2027. Henderson is scheduled to complete his medical and final paperwork over the weekend, with the club planning to confirm the move next week out of respect for the family of former team-mate Diogo Jota, who died earlier this month. The veteran was Brentford’s first-choice target after captain Christian Nørgaard departed for Arsenal, and his leadership is expected to fill the void created by a summer of significant turnover at the club. A 12-year mainstay at Liverpool, Henderson made 492 appearances and captained the side to Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup titles. The midfielder, capped 84 times by England, hopes regular Premier League football will strengthen his case for inclusion in Gareth Southgate’s 2026 World Cup squad.
