Belkin said on 10 July it will discontinue technical support and shut down cloud services for most of its Wemo smart-home products on 31 January 2026, effectively ending the 13-year-old brand’s connected features. The Wemo mobile app will be withdrawn the same day, and functions that rely on remote access or voice assistants such as Amazon Alexa and Google Home will cease to operate. Devices configured for Apple HomeKit will continue to work locally, and four newer Thread-based models—the Wemo Smart Light Switch 3-Way, Stage Smart Scene Controller, Smart Plug with Thread, and Smart Video Doorbell Camera—are not affected. Belkin said customers whose products remain under warranty on the cutoff date may request partial refunds, but no new firmware, software updates or technical support will be provided after the deadline. Belkin framed the move as a reallocation of resources to “different parts of the business,” joining a growing list of consumer-electronics firms that have recently retired ageing connected-device lines. The decision affects dozens of Wemo products sold between 2015 and 2023, including smart plugs, light switches, bulbs and small appliances.
